Monthly Happy Hours - First Tuesdays
Join your Old West Durham neighbors for our monthly Happy Hour, happening every first Tuesday of the month at some of the neighborhood's best local hangouts! It's the perfect casual way to meet new faces, catch up with familiar ones, and enjoy everything our community has to offer — stay tuned to the listserv for updates and other announcements.•September 1st – LocoPops - 5:30pm
Bring the kids, grab ice cream and popsicles, buy a bottle of wine or a six-pack to share with your friends. Maybe on your way out, grab a take-and-bake meal for the family. Their bodega really has an awesome, vast array of tasty goods — the kind of place where you go in for one thing and leave with four bags and no memory of deciding any of it.
October 6th – Jean's By the Sea - 5:30pm
Turning into a local favorite, the cocktails and new outdoor bar are part of the growing attraction. Always a rotating menu of tasty apps and dinner options. Their hushpuppies and sweet butter will make you stomp your feet and howl with happiness — a genuinely alarming reaction to fried dough, and yet, here we are. Plus plenty of room to let the little monsters run free.
November 3rd – Hops and Flower - 5:30pm
Another regular on the rotation, H&F combines the tastes of craft food, great drinks, and a bodega with a twist. Come for the people, stay for the food and shopping. On your way out, feel free to pick up a relaxing six-pack or snack for the weekend. They put the "Chill" in "Let's Mill Hill and Chill." Good people, good times, minimal regrets.
December 1st – Hunky Dory Record Shop - 5:30pm
Beer, wine, unlimited music, and friends. Sounds pretty perfect, because it is. If you haven't been, you're in for a treat. Upstairs, you can grab a buzz, hang out, and shop your heart out. But downstairs is where it gets special — some kind of vinyl-scented time machine. Last time, our group looked like an outtake from That '70s Show, hanging out in Mom and Dad's basement, listening to music and losing track of the hour entirely. There's nothing like a Hunky Dory hang, so get ready for a relaxing evening with neighbors.

Terms of Participation
The Old West Durham Neighborhood Association Listserv is a service provided by the Old West Durham Neighborhood Association (OWDNA) to encourage our values of community, harmony, and diversity. Participation in this group is volunteer-moderated by OWDNA board members to serve the interests of our community members.
Although moderation will be done leniently to encourage dialog, OWDNA reserves the right to filter and/or block participation it feels is inconsistent with its mission or values, does not relate to Old West Durham and/or our surrounding community, is illegal or inappropriate in any way, or abuses the membership for advertising purposes. Examples of participation that is discouraged include:
- Advertising for services and/or events offered by organizations and/or people not associated with our community
- Excessive advertising for services within our community
- Personal or defamatory attacks on other community members
- Philosophical discussions not relevant to our community or region
From time to time, OWDNA reviews these terms and amends them as necessary. If you have recommendations for improvements to these terms or the moderation of the group, please attend the next OWDNA Board meeting.
